Who can participate? This trip will be mainly adults. Parents who wish to accompany their middle or high school aged student are also welcome to join. The team must maintain a 1 adult to every 7 minors ratio.

What kind of trip is this? This trip will be visiting the Texas/Mexico border to work with an organization called Border Perspective www.borderperspective.org. The trip is a service learning trip that will include opportunities to volunteer with local churches and nonprofits serving the low-income community and the immigrant community around the border. Service projects may include construction assistance building a new church building, distribution and sorting of donated food items, preparation and serving of hot food at a soup kitchen, and assisting with local church planting efforts. Learning opportunities may include conversations with local Christians, Border Patrol officers, locals who work with immigrants regularly crossing the border, etc.

Registration deadline: The April team is full. Signups for the fall Border Perspective Team will begin in June.

Cost: The estimated trip cost is $900. The final cost is subject to change based on travel costs but $900 is a reasonable estimated cost.

Travel: Fly to McAllen, Texas and travel locally in rental vehicles.

The trip will help enlighten us to the plight of those living in border towns, and understand the immense effort exerted by local Christians to "love their neighbor" when the local population is so transient. We will learn, grow and seek to discover what God is up to along the US/Mexico border.
