Sound­track of the Soul

Any trip to the the­atre or night curled up on the couch in front of the wide screen will tell you a movie is often made by the sound­track that accom­pa­nies it. Expec­ta­tions will be set, moods will be shaped, hints and insights will be given, and even char­ac­ter will be revealed all by the music sur­round­ing a par­tic­u­lar scene or moment. What music does for a movie, it often also does for our lives. We all have our favorite songs that cap­ture feel­ings we are unable to express on our own. We are all aware of bal­lads that have com­forted the griev­ing, or inspired a rev­o­lu­tion, or pro­voked reflec­tion on the mys­ter­ies of life. So it shouldn’t sur­prise us that God has filled Scrip­ture with lyrics and songs. In his wis­dom he has offered to us a sound­track for our souls. So join us for the upcom­ing series in which we will explore the beauty and wis­dom that is found in the music of Scrip­ture. You might be sur­prised to find how much richer the action of our lives can be when it’s dri­ven by the right musi­cal score.
